ARLINGTON - DeMarcus Ayers passed for two touchdowns and Nick Harvey ran for two touchdowns to lead Lancaster to a 28-7 victory over Arlington Seguin on Friday night at Wilemon Field.
The Tigers (6-0, 3-0 District 15-4A) overcame four turnovers, including two fumbles lost deep in Cougars' territory in the first quarter. Lancaster got on track in the second quarter, scoring touchdowns on three consecutive possessions to take a 21-0 lead.
On the first play of the second quarter, Ayers connected with Nick Alexander on a 53-yard pass for a first down at the Seguin 10. On third-and-goal from the 14, Ayers ran left and threw a strike to Alexander in the end zone for a 7-0 lead.
After a Seguin punt, the Tigers drove 61 yards in nine plays capped by Ayers' 11-yard pass to Craig White. Ayers passed for 206 yards and rushed for 121.
A 75-yard touchdown run by Harvey pushed the lead to 21-0.
Harvey's next carry was a 24-yard TD run in the third quarter to extend the lead to 28-0.
The Cougars (1-5, 0-3) got on the board in the third quarter on a 66-yard run by Danarcus Stewart. He rushed for a team-high 79 yards on five carries.
Lancaster turned the ball over deep in Seguin territory on their first two drives of the game. Ayers rushed for 15 yards for a first down at the Seguin 27. But the Cougars recovered a fumble on the next play. Lancaster's next drive ended on a fumble on second-and-goal from the Seguin 8.
Ayers lost a fourth-quarter fumble as he was headed into the end zone. The Tigers were also intercepted in Seguin's end zone late. The Cougars turned it over on downs in Lancaster territory on their final two drives of the game.
