Kudos for Keller schools

Congratulations to the Keller school district. For the third consecutive year Keller was awarded the highest possible marks for financial efficiency: five stars. Only 45 of Texas' 1,200 public school districts and charter schools received five stars.

I'm reminded of last year's election, when local anti-government activists were able to defeat the tax increase by proclaiming how wasteful and inefficient the Keller school district was. As a result, the staff incurred bigger workloads, students found fewer staff, less security and larger classes, and parents found themselves raiding the grocery budget to pay for bus service. The public never wins when it votes based on inaccurate rhetoric espoused by anti-tax and other well-financed right-leaning groups for whom facts don't matter.
