Southlake Carroll QB to receive statewide honor

A

Southlake Carroll quarterback Kenny Hill will be awarded with the Built Ford Tough Class 5A Texas High School Football Player of the Week trophy Wednesday for his Week 2 performance.

The Texas A&M commit led the Dragons to a 34-0 rout of Temple on Sept. 19 at Cowboys Stadium. Hill did most of his damage on the ground by scrambling for 238 yards and three touchdowns but added another 133 yards through the air.

"I have to really give it to my receivers and O-line," Hill said. "I ran a bunch that game and they blocked great for me. All of the credit goes to them."

The senior has thrown for 1,047 yards, nine touchdowns and rushed for 427 yards and seven scores this season for Carroll (4-1, 2-0 in District 4-5A).

The defending Class 5A Division I state champs have won four straight after dropping the season opener at Allen. The Dragons have outscored opponents 221-10 during the win streak.

"I feel like we're doing good, we're starting to click and figure it out," Hill said. "We're just trying to focus on ourselves and on getting better as a team to get where we want to get."
