TCU dropped its Big 12 home opener to Iowa State 37-23, under the leadership of redshirt freshman quarterback Trevone Boykin.

Iowa State wide receiver Josh Lenz lit up the Horned Frogs’ defensive secondary, catching three touchdown passes and throwing one. He finished the day with 147 yards on five receptions.

Garland native Jared Barnett got the start at quarterback for Iowa State, throwing for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

Boykin, playing in place of the suspended Casey Pachall, threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter, one for an Iowa State touchdown, which put the game out of reach.

Boykin finished his first career start 23-for-40 for 270 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. He rushed for 39 yards.
