WACO -- Down 7-0 after one quarter, Waco scored 35 unanswered points in the second and third quarters as the Lions celebrated homecoming Friday with a 56-14 District 8-4A win over Burleson at Waco ISD Stadium.
The Lions (3-2, 1-1) trailed 7-0 after one quarter after the Elks (0-5, 0-1) scored on their second possession.
Burleson quarterback Isaiah Hall gave the Elks their first lead of the season with 20-yard scoring strike to B.J. Mays. The 8-play, 65-yard drive was set up by a Rodney Nickerson fumble recovery.
The Elks held the lead until midway through the second quarter when Christian Simms scored on a 12-yard to tie the score at 7-7. Simms finished with 134 yards.
