Kyle Hicks accounted for five touchdowns as Arlington Martin easily handled Weatherford 59-7 on Friday night in a District 3-5A matchup at Cravens Field.
The Warriors (3-2, 2-0) won their third in a row after an 0-2 start. The Kangaroos (1-4, 0-2) have lost two 3-5A games by a combined 107 points.
Hicks, a running back/quarterback, ran for 106 yards on six carries and had touchdown runs of 1, 2, 54 and 4 yards. He also threw a 33-yard TD pass to give Martin a 42-0 halftime lead.
A Weatherford special-teams error gave Martin a 2-0 lead when a snap to Kangaroos punter Zack Logue sailed out of the end zone.
After the ensuing free kick, the Warriors needed two plays to score on Hicks' 1-yard run, set up by a 46-yard pass by junior quarterback Sam Brinegar.
Another high punt snap by Weatherford was covered by Logue on the Roos' 6-yard line. Two runs by Hicks got Martin back over the goal line.
Hicks later scampered 54 yards to push Martin's first-quarter advantage to 21-0.
The Warriors added three more TDs in the second quarter, including a 34-yard blocked punt return by junior Josh Hall and Hicks' pass to Regan Luce. Hicks was in trouble on the TD pass but spun to avoid a sack and found Luce.
