I don't have a problem with someone who chooses to be a vegetarian. It's a personal choice. But I disagree with using false and misleading information to influence others. (See: "Can life be worth living as a vegetarian?", Oct. 1)
I suggest you ask a rancher about the way they care for their animals instead of choosing the inflammatory attack of a "dietary expert and author." That way you would learn more about the way ranching families thoughtfully raise cattle to provide delicious, healthful beef. The scientific and nutritional evidence to support the role of beef in a healthy, balanced diet is strong. There is simply no evidence that should change the way people enjoy beef as part of a healthy diet. Leading health organizations, including the American Cancer Society, emphasize that foods and nutrients may have additive or synergistic effects on health and need to be considered in the context of the total diet.I confidently enjoy beef as part of a healthy, balanced diet. By the way, I didn't avert my eyes, but I did offer a quick prayer.-- Kenneth K. Leiber, Fort WorthHave more to add? News tip? Tell us
