This is National Pediatric Nurses Week. The Children's Hospital Association of Texas welcomes this opportunity to recognize the pediatric nurses at Cook Children's Health Care System who work tirelessly to provide the children of Fort Worth and the surrounding areas the care they deserve.

Texas is fortunate to have excellent pediatric nurses at children's hospitals throughout the state. These highly trained nurses provide expert care for the most ill children -- specialized care that they cannot receive elsewhere for congenital heart conditions, transplants, cancer and other serious illnesses.

As the 2013 legislative session approaches, we recognize that Texas' healthcare and budget challenges are many. For children's hospitals to continue providing top-quality, specialized care for Texas children, funding for children's health programs, including nurse training initiatives, must be preserved.

On behalf of the Children's Hospital Association of Texas, I would like to thank all pediatric nurses and express our sincere gratitude for the important work you do to help our state's children grow up as healthy as possible.
