FORT WORTH -- A 40-year-old White Settlement man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for sexually assaulting his 3-month-old daughter.
A Tarrant County jury deliberated less than 30 minutes Tuesday before convicting the man of four counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child under age 6, according to a news release from the Tarrant County district attorney's office. Jurors took about 45 minutes Wednesday to return the maximum sentence.Prosecutors presented evidence that the man is addicted to pornography and had been working with his wife and members of his church to control his impulses. After a church member took away his computer, the man began streaming adult movies to his television. He used the baby's body to stimulate himself while watching the movies and repeated the act later and recorded one act with a photo, the news release stated."[He] eventually told his wife what he had done after she questioned him why the baby's diaper wasn't attached properly," the news release stated. "The couple agreed to work out a safety plan that prohibited [him] from changing or bathing the baby."Later, however, the man acknowledged at church what he had done, according to the news release. Members contacted Child Protective Services, which notified White Settlement police. The Star-Telegram generally does not identify victims of sexual assault. So in cases involving relatives, the newspaper does not name the defendant.Bill Miller, 817-390-7684Have more to add? News tip? Tell us
