One more letter about school paddling. The real issues are discipline and education. Education cannot occur without discipline.

I went to school in the dark ages when corporal punishment was a common means of maintaining discipline. We could also read, write and understand math when we graduated.

I have received corporal punishment when I deserved it. Also, on occasions when I did not deserve it. I still deserved it more than I received it. I have received bruises in the process, but bruises soon heal. Lack of knowledge lasts for a lifetime.
