In response to A.L. McCluney's letter, I'll be continuing to support President Obama Nov. 6. (See: "On wrong course," Sept. 21)

Though I'm two decades younger than the writer's published age, I know all about these "-isms" and have "safeguarded against" fascism.

My "guard duty" lasted from 1971 through 1977 while I was employed/volunteering for U.S. Army intelligence.

I met Barack Obama in 1994. After a half-day of talking with him, I knew he was a man who tried to see things in-depth from several angles. He, unlike Romney and George W. Bush, is not an "empty suit."

Obama, to our great 2008 judgment, has been and is up to the job of commander in chief, and Michelle Obama may be the first spouse in the White House to measure up to Mrs. Franklin Roosevelt.
