Fort Worth Arlington Heights defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson was formally selected to the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in a ceremony before practice Thursday at the school field in front of teammates, family and friends.
"It's a good feeling to be honored as one of the top players in the country and I'm excited to play in a big game like this on TV," Robinson said.
Robinson, 6-foot-5, 310-pounds, racked up 123 tackles and 18 sacks last season as a junior and is considered a five-star college prospect.
He gave his verbal pledge to Texas in February but Robinson visited Florida State last weekend and several publications have said USC and Alabama could still be in play as well.
Robinson said Thursday he had a good visit in Tallahassee and that Florida State is a good school.
The All-American added he's still a solid commit to Texas but that he still plans to take more visits.
The 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl will kickoff at noon, Jan. 5 at the Alamodome in San Antonio and will be televised live on NBC.
