FORT WORTH -- The father of a 20-month-old boy who drowned in April at a north Fort Worth pool has been arrested and accused of failing to supervise his son.
Police say Jordan Evans had been left in the care of Mark Mike Evans when the boy fell into the pool at the Club at Fossil Creek apartment complex in the 3400 block of Western Center Boulevard about 10:30 p.m. April 10."Witnesses interviewed said they saw a man later identified as Mark yelling and pulling a baby from the pool," said Sgt. James Thomson, a supervisor of the crimes against children unit. "No one else was seen in the pool area with Mark. It is not known what Mark was doing when the victim went into the pool."Jordan was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. The next day, according to a police report, officers responded to a disturbance at the complex and arrested Evans on suspicion of public intoxication, failure to identify himself to police and evading arrest. In April, he was sentenced to five days in jail in the failure to identify himself case and was sentenced to 20 days in jail for an unrelated state jail felony conviction of criminal mischief.Evans, 32, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant accusing him of injury to a child. He remained in the Mansfield Jail on Monday with bail set at $150,000, jail records show.Deanna Boyd, 817-390-7655Twitter: @deannaboydHave more to add?
