Seattle scored 10 quick points off special teams turnovers and Marshawn Lynch rushed for 122 yards and one touchdown as the Seahawks overpowered the Dallas Cowboys 27-7 on Sunday afternoon in front of a wild crowd of 68,008 at CenturyLink Field.

Tony Romo completed 23 of 40 passes for 251 yards with one touchdown and one interception, but had several of his passes dropped.

"They imposed their will on us today," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "This is an example to us about how to play with home field (advantage)."

Felix Jones fumbled on the opening kickoff and Earl Thomas recovered at the Cowboys’ 29. Two runs and a personal foul penalty against Josh Brent gave Seattle a first-and-goal at the 8. Two runs netted 5 yards before linebacker Bruce Carter batted down a third-down pass. Steven Hauschka made a 21-yard field goal to give the Seahawks a 3-0 lead.

Two runs and a dropped pass forced the Cowboys to punt on their first offensive series. Chris Jones had his punt blocked by Malcolm Smith and Jeron Johnson picked the ball up on one bounce and jogged 3 yards into the end zone to make the score 10-0.

Dallas then drove to Seattle’s 24 where Romo was intercepted by Brandon Browner, who returned the ball to the Dallas 46. The defense held and forced a punt to keep the score at 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Cowboys finally got on the board.

The Cowboys capped a 15-play, 95-yard scoring drive early in the second quarter when Romo threw a 22-yard touchdown to Miles Austin. Austin beat Brandon Browner on a hitch-and-go move before diving into the end zone to make the score 10-7. Dallas converted four third downs on the drive.

The game finally settled down with an exchange of punts before Seattle put together its first true offensive drive. The Seahawks moved from their 41 to the Dallas 7 where Hauschka made a 25-yard field goal, his second of the game, to make it 13-7 at halftime.

Seattle’s power game took over from there.

Following an exchange of punts, Seattle struck first with a 90-yard, eight-play drive with rookie Russell Wilson throwing a 23-yard touchdown to Anthony McCoy. The key play was a 36-yard run by Lynch. The touchdown pushed Seattle’s lead to 20-7.

After forcing another punt, Seattle covered 88 yards in 12 plays with Lynch running the final 3 yards for the touchdown and a 27-7 lead with 7:57 left in the game.

Then after another Dallas punt, Seattle closed out the game with another 14-play drive that ended at the Dallas 30 with 36 seconds left in the game.

Dallas faces Tampa Bay in the Cowboys’ home opener next Sunday.
