LAWRENCE, Kan. Despite several potentially costly errors, TCU took a 20-6 victory over Kansas in the Horned Frogs first conference game in the Big 12. Casey Pachall completed 24 of 30 pass attempts for 335 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions but was involved in three turnovers in front of a crowd of 43,867 at Memorial Stadium.
The Frogs fumbled the ball four times, including one that went out of the end zone as Pachall attempted to run the ball in for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. TCUs opening possession also ended with a bad snap on the Jayhawks nine-yard line. Kansas took over near midfield and took an early lead on Ron Dohertys 37-yard field goal.TCU finished with 487 yards of offense, with Waymon James leading all runners with 99 yards. Euless Trinity alum Brandon Carter had eight catches for 141 yards and both touchdowns.
