Where to find frights and family-friendly Halloween fare in the Metroplex
Spooky activities have arrived frightfully early this year, so here's a guide to area screams, as well as fall family fare
When did zombies and ghouls get so darn selfish, and self-promotional? Used to be they were happy to haunt us on Halloween -- and in our dreams the rest of the year. But no more. These creeps have crept into every crevice of our pop culture, and they're not satisfied with simply being the stars of late October.
Here it is early September and they're already firing up their chainsaws and dragging their undead carcasses into the spotlight at haunted houses across the Metroplex. Honestly, they won't leave us alone until we agree to tell you, dear reader, about all their scary antics. So here it is, our list of where to get your ghoulish groove on this fall.
Most of these haunts aren't for the faint of heart, but there are other festivals and attractions -- like Boo at the Zoo and the Hall's Pumpkin Farm & Corn Maze -- that don't require nerves of steel. We've got those, too.
Be sure to check the venues' websites for discount coupons and DFW.com for even more haunted listings. And, before we forget -- Boo!
