An argument over a girl led to the killing of an Irving man near an Arlington bar early Sunday, Arlington police said Tuesday.
The Tarrant County medical examiner's office on Tuesday identified the victim as Yong Nammeechai, 25.Nammeechai died from a stab wound to his chest and his death has been ruled a homicide by the medical examiner's office.No one has been arrested as of Tuesday.The stabbing occurred about 2:30 a.m. Sunday near Maverick's Sports Grill in the 600 block of East Main Street in Arlington.Maverick's manager Richard Chavez said that two patrons at the bar were asked to leave the business at about 1 a.m. Sunday when they started yelling at each other. Chavez did not know who they were."They were loud, but it never got physical," Chavez said. "They left without any problems."Chavez said an officer came into the bar about 1:30 a.m., checking for any problems."Everything was fine," Chavez said.At about 2:30 a.m., officers entered the bar again, trying to find anyone who knew the victim."That was the first we heard of any problems," the manager said.Chavez noted that the stabbing occurred in a parking lot not owned by the bar."It's used for overflow for people coming to Maverick's," Chavez said.
