A Dallas County man faced with sexual assault charges involving a Hebron High School student is accused of luring her away from the school last week and then fatally shooting her near the Trinity River in Irving.

Four sexual assault charges were pending against Franklin B. Davis, according to Dallas County criminal court records.

The charges stemmed from alleged offenses in Mesquite, the records showed.

Mesquite police could not be reached Sunday to comment on the cases.

Carrollton police identified the suspect as Davis, whom authorities described as a distant acquaintance of Shania Gray, the victim.

Davis was in the Carrollton Jail on Sunday facing a capital murder charge.

Police said there are no indications that there are any other suspects in the case.

The teen was last seen about 4 p.m. Thursday at Hebron High School in Carrollton.

Carrollton police say they believe Davis arranged to meet her after school Thursday and then drove her to the Campion Trails Park along the Trinity River in Irving.

Davis is accused of fatally shooting Gray after the two walked to a secluded area of the Irving park.

Sometime after the slaying, Davis was arrested on unrelated traffic warrants.

On Saturday, the girl's body was discovered by a bicyclist in a wooded area near the Trinity River.

Through physical evidence and interviews with Davis, authorities say they believe that the Irving man was the gunman.

Carrollton police said Sunday that Davis faced criminal charges involving the teen from a prior case.

No other details were available Sunday.
