A beekeeper attempting to rid a vacant house of a bees nest was attacked by the insects Sunday afternoon when they managed to get inside his protective suit, officials said.

Firefighters called to the scene and neighbors used wasp spray and CO2 to knock down the bees, a MedStar spokesman said.

The 40-year-old beekeeper, who is allergic to bee stings, was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth with non-life-threatening injuries, said Matt Zavadsky, a MedStar spokesman.

The attack occurred in the 1500 block of Ems Road West on the city's west side.

The beekeeper was inside the house when the swarm attacked him, officials said.

No other details were available.
