Paschal band raising money for drowned student's funeral
The Paschal High School band is marshaling efforts to help the family of one of its French horn players who drowned Friday.
Rick Sek, 15, could not be revived after he was pulled unconscious from a swimming pool during an end-of-band-camp party at the Lockheed Martin Recreation Area in Southwest Fort Worth.
Student leaders met Sunday to discuss ways to help Sek's family cover funeral costs, according to the band's website. Later this week they plan to sell memorial bracelets saying "We Play for Rick."
The Paschal Band Boosters have activated an emergency fund to help pay funeral expenses.
The fund was created nearly a year ago "for emergencies just such as this" after the death of Tammy Smith, a beloved band booster, according to the website.
For information on how to donate to the fund, go to the band's website.
