A gunman wearing dark clothes fired in the direction of an Arlington junior high running track about 10 p.m. Monday, wounded a jogger and then ran from the scene, Arlington police said Tuesday.

Five witnesses gave police that brief account of the shooting of the victim, who was shot in the ankle. Authorities did not release the victim's name, saying only that he was in his 40s.

Police said they did not have a motive for the shooting, but officers will be focusing their patrols on the area near Workman Junior High School in the 700 block of East Arbrook Boulevard where the shooting occurred.

Detectives were interviewing the victim to try to determine a possible reason for the attack.

The man was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth after the shooting, police said.
