A third round of aerial mosquito spraying in parts of Denton and Tarrant counties including Southlake, Haslet, Flower Mound and Lewisville began late Saturday after spraying was stopped Friday night because of high winds.

According to the spraying contractor, Dynamic Aviation, spraying resumed Saturday at 9 p.m.

Any area missed will be covered today, said Bob Martinez, emergency preparedness coordinator for Denton County.

"The areas that did not get sprayed last night will get sprayed tonight with the rest of the county and then again Sunday night," Martinez said Saturday.

The spraying is a public-health response to cases in North Texas of West Nile virus, which is spread by mosquitoes.

Residents should check Denton County's website, dentoncounty.com, for updates on areas sprayed.

Staff writers Susan McFarland and Nicholas Sakelaris contributed to this report.
