FORT WORTH -- A 15-year-old Paschal High student was pronounced dead late Friday after he was pulled unconscious from a pool at the Lockheed Martin Recreation Area in southwest Fort Worth, according to MedStar and a Fire Department spokeswoman.
Rick Sek of Fort Worth died at 9:39 p.m. in the emergency room at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's website. The cause of death was listed as accidental drowning.Sek is listed as a member of the concert band at Paschal. He was a sophomore.The band was holding its annual end-of-camp pool party, according to a posting on the band's website.A 911 call was received at 8:30 p.m. Friday about a possible drowning at the recreation area in the 3400 block of Bryant Irvin Road, fire Lt. Carol Jones said.The lifeguards tried four times to revive Sek with an automated external defibrillator, and firefighters gave the teen cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but he was unconscious as a MedStar ambulance took him to a hospital, Jones said.
