ARLINGTON -- Police said Thursday that they now believe that an Arlington woman who was struck and killed on Collins Street two weeks ago was first hit by Ford vehicle that is a cross between an SUV and a pickup.

Julie Buford, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was hit by multiple vehicles at just after 6:30 a.m. Aug. 15, police said, but the driver of the first vehicle, believed to be a Ford Explorer Trac built between 2000 and 2005, did not stop and has not been identified.

Based on evidence collected, the vehicle is thought to have extensive damage to its front end, police said. Investigators want to speak with the driver.

The accident happened in the 600 block of North Collins, at Rogers Street across from Cowboys Stadium. Witness statements and footage from traffic cameras have not produced the lead that police need in order to identify the driver.

Police renewed their request Thursday that anybody with information call accident investigator Roger Lee at 817 459-5635 or Crime Stoppers at 817 459-8477 to submit an anonymous tip.

Through Crime Stoppers, tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
