FORT WORTH -- Earnest Lackey boasted that he was a member of the Aryan Brotherhood.

But Ronnie Freeman Jr. didn't believe Lackey, and he made the 34-year-old Burleson man pay for it, Tarrant County sheriff's investigators say.

In July, Lackey was choked, kicked, hog-tied with a yellow cord, beaten and sexually tortured with a soldering iron by Freeman and two other men who also claim membership in the white supremacist gang, according to arrest warrant affidavits obtained by Star-Telegram on Tuesday.

Freeman, 32, of Fort Worth; Jimmy "Jimbo" Lee Riddle, 42, of Euless; and Staten "Monster" William Corbett, 45, of Haltom City have been charged with murder in Lackey's death.

They were in the Tarrant County Jail Tuesday with bail set at $100,000 each.

The three suspects and Lackey served time in Texas prisons, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The Aryan Brotherhood is a white supremacist gang with several offshoots that began in prisons in the 1980s.

Asked whether any of the men were confirmed as Brotherhood members, Terry Grisham, spokesman for the sheriff's department, said: "Investigators have focused on the homicide, not the association that these men claim to be with."

The suspects are in separate jail cells and are not allowed to see each other, Grisham said.

Tip leads to arrests

On Aug. 2, a woman called 911 to report that she had found a body south of the 5400 block of Crest Drive in far northwest Tarrant County near northeastern Eagle Mountain Lake.

Later, acting on a tip, sheriff's investigators linked the three suspects to the slaying, which was witnessed by other people, according to the affidavits.

Here is how investigators outlined the slaying scene in the affidavits.

On July 7, the three suspects, Lackey and other people were at a mobile home in the 6100 block of Big Wood Court, which is on the southwestern end of Eagle Mountain Lake near Azle.

Lackey was acting "jumpy" and "scared," witnesses told investigators.

Freeman, Riddle and Corbett believed he was claiming membership in the Aryan Brotherhood, which they disputed, according to the affidavits.

Freeman ordered two women to remain in a back bedroom.

At some point, Lackey could be heard yelling out in pain. Riddle kicked Lackey as Corbett placed him in a choke hold, saying, "You know you like it! You know you like it!"

Lackey was then sexually tortured with a soldering iron.

Freeman fell asleep for an hour. Later, the women were allowed to leave, and Lackey's body was wrapped in a red blanket and tied with the cord. His body was loaded into a car and dumped off Crest Drive.

The Tarrant County medical examiner's office identified Lackey last week. No missing person report had been filed, authorities said Tuesday.

The three suspects were already in jail on unrelated charges when they were accused in Lackey's slaying. Freeman was arrested July 17 on suspicion of assault with bodily injury; Corbett on Aug. 6 on a parole violation; and Riddle on Aug. 8 on suspicion of making a terroristic threat and contempt of court for nonpayment of child support.

More arrests are possible, authorities said.

Grisham said the 911 call from the woman reporting finding the body would not be released because it is evidence.
