It appears that DFW Airport tied a different kind of weather record today.
The region tied a record for the lowest high temperature set on this date in 1919 and 1906.In both of those years, the high temperature on this date was 78, which was hit at DFW Airport just after midnight. At 8 p.m. the temperature at the airport, the official reporting station, was 74 degrees, and wasn't expected to go much higher.Forecasters cautioned earlier that it wouldn't take much for temperatures to start climbing after today's rains."We are seeing some breaks in the clouds out west and north of the Metroplex," National Weather Service meteorologist Nick Hampshire said early this afternoon. "Even if the clouds break as late as 6 p.m., it will likely climb into the low 80s."In McKinney, Hampshire noted that temperatures quickly jumped from 73 to 80 once the sun peeked through the clouds. But that didn't happen in DFW, at least as of 8 p.m.Hampshire said it was "just a question of if we get any sun before sunset."Have more to add?
