FORT WORTH _ A man who died after he fell into a creek and was swept away by high waters late Saturday has been identified as Kermit Mikolajczyk of Euless, the Tarrant County medical examiner's office reported on its website on Tuesday.

The body of Mikolajczyk, 33, was found Sunday afternoon by dive teams from the fire department.

He died from drowning and his death has been ruled an accident, the medical examiner's office reported.

Mikolajczyk lost his footing in a creek near Trammel Davis and South Norwood Drive and was swept underwater late Saturday, a witness told the Fort Worth Fire Department.

Crews searched the banks and used boats to search until 1 a.m. Sunday, the Fire Department said in a news release. High water, debris and darkness forced crews to suspend the search until Sunday morning.

Thunderstorms tore through the Metroplex on Saturday evening, dumping more than 4 inches of rain within two hours in some areas and triggering flash floods.
