A large area of rain showers covered much of North Texas northwest of Tarrant County and, at midmorning Tuesday, was moving southeast into the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Light showers that had reached DFW Airport around 5 a.m. had dropped 0.13 inches of rain by 11 a.m., the National Weather Service was reporting on its website. Arlington Municipal Airport had recorded .15 inches. To the west, Mineral Wells had recorded .79 inches by 10 a.m..

The weather service's short-term forecast issued at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday called for an additional one-third of an inch of rain for areas between Jacksboro and Corsicana.

The weather service forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of rain Tuesday.

The high temperature for the Dallas-Fort Worth area Tuesday afternoon is expected to be in the mid-80s with a low Wednesday morning in the upper 60s.

Wednesday should be mostly sunny and dry with a high in the low-90s.
