FORT WORTH _ A patrol officer in his car responding to a DWI call late Monday broadsided a car that pulled out in front of him, police said Tuesday.

The officer and the elderly motorist, who were not identified, were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The wreck happened about 11 p.m. Monday in the 5600 block of Azle Avenue.

The officer was traveling northbound on the street when the elderly driver in a Honda pulled out in front of the officer's vehicle, causing the officer's vehicle to broadside the Honda, police said.

The officer was being treated for pains in his left leg and ankle and chest area. The elderly motorist suffered an injury to his hip, police said.
