FORT WORTH -- A 24-year-old Fort Worth man found dead Friday inside the wreckage of an SUV in a creek bed died from injuries suffered in a crash, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner.

Calvin Allen's death was an accident, the medial examiner ruled Monday.

Fort Worth maintenance workers discovered the SUV under a bridge at Trinity Boulevard near Harper Drive in northeast Fort Worth on Friday morning, police have said. The workers were checking the bridge because of heavy rains earlier in the week.

Evidence suggested that the Buick SUV was eastbound in the right lane on Trinity when it left the roadway on a slight curve to the left, police said. The SUV traveled about 250 feet before striking a tree and landing in a creek bed under the bridge.

Police said they believe the wreck happened several days before the SUV was found. The creek is hidden from the road by heavy brush.

Allen's sister, Michelle Evans of Houston, said that Allen went out Tuesday night and hadn't been seen since. Family members notified police that he was missing but did not learn that his vehicle was found until they saw news reports Friday.

His family was devastated, she said.

Allen lived with his girlfriend and has a young son.

The location of the crash suggests that he was heading home when he died, she said.

"He was kindhearted, and he cared about his family," she said. "He was so funny and so full of life."

Allen went to high school in Arlington and was an aspiring rapper who hoped to soon release a CD, she said.

Family members have visited the crash scene and don't understand why Allen would have lost control of the vehicle at that point in the roadway. They are asking anyone who has information about his death to contact police, she said.

Police said debris at the crash site suggested that it happened during or before high-water conditions in the creek.
