FORT WORTH _ Sleep could be hard Tuesday night as forecasters are calling for a good chance of thunderstorms in North Texas.
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth is giving Tarrant County a 50 percent chance of rain, the best chances coming late Tuesday into early Wednesday."We could see storms in the evening, but if things pan out, the better rain producers will be later," meteorologist Steve Fano of the NWS office in Fort Worth said Tuesday morning.Forecasters said that because the storms will arrive late, the chances are slim of a repeat of Sunday afternoon when North Texans experienced storms packing winds of more than 70 mph, causing major damage in Tarrant County.The storms knocked out power to 55,000 customers in Tarrant County, but Oncor officials reported that power had been restored to all customers as of Tuesday morning."Those storms came during the heat of the day and those conditions caused downburst winds," Fano said.It will be hot again Tuesday as forecasters say temperatures could reach 101.The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has issued a level orange air pollution watch for the Dallas/Fort Worth area for Tuesday. Ozone levels are expected to reach unhealthy levels.Temperatures will remain in the triple digits on Wednesday and Thursday, but a cool front arrives later in the week, bringing with it some cooler temperatures and more chances of rain.The cool front is expected to arrive Thursday night and with it a 20 percent chance of rain.High temperatures on Friday during the day will be in the mid-90s, and it should stay that way for the weekend."It's very typical for this time of year," Fano said.
