To Bob Ray Sanders and Dorothy Deen, who advocate supplying fans to prisoners: Prisons are for punishment of felons. (See: "Life-or-death situation for inmates is cruel treatment," Wednesday)

Remember not too many years ago when prisoners worked on road gangs, farms and other manual labor in summer heat?

For anyone who has money to donate, I suggest sending it to the Wounded Warrior Project. Our soldiers from Afghanistan, Iraq and many other countries deserve the help more than prisoners who are already a burden on society and taxpayers!
