FORT WORTH — A domestic argument Monday evening at a residence in west Fort Worth left one woman dead, another critically injured and a man in jail, police said Tuesday.
The women were stabbed during the dispute, police said.The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office identified the dead victim as Ana Bertha Gomez, 51, of Fort Worth, who was found dead at the scene.A 24-year-old woman who also suffered stab wounds was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Her condition was unavailable Tuesday morning.Hours after the stabbing, police arrested Samuel Velez, 35, without incident in the 2200 block of East Berry Street.Police responded to call of a stabbing shortly before 6 p.m. Monday in the 6200 block of Lt. JG Barnett Road on the city’s west side near the Naval Air Station Fort Worth, formerly Carswell Air Force Base.When they arrived, officers found the 24-year-old woman, who police did not identify, on the ground outside of the home with apparent stab wounds, police reports state.Once inside the home, officers discovered Gomez's body.Through the investigation, investigators learned that the young woman and Velez had previously had a dating relationship.
