BENBROOK -- A man pulled out of Benbrook Lake on Sunday has been identified as Monte Hall of Azle, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office reported Tuesday on its website.

Hall, 53, was pronounced dead shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday at the lake.

A ruling on his death is pending.

Hall went missing in the lake after swimming with a friend Sunday morning, authorities said.

Authorities received a call of a drowning shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday near the Benbrook Marina. Dive teams then began searching for the man.

Preliminary reports state that a woman told authorities that she and the man had been swimming about 200 feet from the shore when she lost sight of him.

At some point, she told authorities that she heard him calling out for help.
