One of the suspects accused in the horrific sexual abuse of children in Johnson is a single mother with kids, according to her Facebook page and authorities.
Rosalyn E. Burdett, 40, also was a medical eligibility specialist with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, an agency official said late Wednesday.Burdett, who was fired Thursday, had been working at the state agency since March 2005, according to state records.She was arrested Monday at her home on County Road 526 in rural Johnson County.Burdett and Jay Thomas Morgan, 49, of Arlington, remained in custody Thursday in connection with what authorities say is "some of the worst child pornography" that has been seized in Johnson County in at least 35 years.The case involves a 7-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl, and Johnson County investigators will be serving search warrants elsewhere in Texas and in other states to find other possible victims, said Johnson County sheriff's Lt. Tim Jones.The man and woman in custody are accused of photographing themselves having sex with the children. The couple knew each other, Jones said."We're trying to locate anyone with children who have had contact with the arrested suspects," Jones said.No other victims have been confirmed, but authorities are following numerous leads, Jones said Thursday.Morgan was arrested Tuesday at his job in Arlington. Morgan told authorities that he is an engineer.Each was in the Johnson County Jail with bail set at $500,000.They are expected to be charged with multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, Jones said.Burdett's two children have been placed in foster care, said Child Protective Services spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales late Wednesday. Burdett has no past history with CPS, Gonzales said.Investigators received a tip Monday from out of state of possible child sexual abuse at Burdett's home.Investigators obtained a search warrant for Burdett's home and confiscated graphic images of adults performing sex acts on children."There were tons of photos," Jones said.During questioning, Burdett admitted having sexual acts with children, a news release stated.The children involved in the case were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services, Jones said in the release. Burdett knew the children, Jones said. Authorities did not release any more details.Burdett told authorities that a man was involved in the case.Authorities arrested Morgan on Tuesday and executed a search warrant at his home in the 700 block of Simi Drive in Arlington, seizing many items, they said.Jones said it was too early in the investigation to say how long the children may have been abused."The sheriff [Bob Alford] has been here at least 35 years and he's never seen anything as horrific as those photos," Jones said.The case was being investigated by the Johnson County Sheriff's Department, the Texas Rangers, Mansfield and Arlington police, and Child Protective Services.Anyone with children who may have been in contact with the suspects should call the Johnson County Sheriff's Department at 817-556-6058 or after hours at 817-556-6060.Domingo Ramirez Jr., 817-390-7763Twitter: @mingoramirezjrHave more to add?
