Nicole Collier won a big victory over Jesse Gaines in the Texas House District 95 Democratic runoff Tuesday, and Stephanie Klick maintained a lead over Ken Sapp in the Republican runoff to fill the District 91 seat.

Collier will face Republican Monte Mitchell this fall to fill the southeast and east-side Fort Worth seat vacated by Marc Veasey. There's no Democratic challenger in the District 91 race, so the winner of the Klick-Sapp runoff will take the Northeast Tarrant County seat.

"We were just going strong with everyone, knocking on doors, meeting people," said Collier, an attorney. "It felt really good coming into today. We've got to get through November, and we've got to finish this off."

"I'm feeling good about what I'm seeing," Klick, former Tarrant County GOP chairman, said at 9:30 p.m., with 31 of 55 precincts reporting.

With 75 of 87 precincts reporting, Collier was leading with 59.4 percent of the votes. At 10 p.m., with 47 precincts reporting, Klick was leading with 55.7 percent of the vote.
