Cowboys rookie cornerback Morris Claiborne sat out the last 15 minutes of practice and skipped the post-workout sprints because of soreness in his leg. But he declared it nothing worthy of concern after huddling with a trainer and said he would be back at practice Tuesday.

“It was just soreness,” Claiborne said. “My leg gave out on me a little bit ... It’s been a while since I actually did drills and ran with receivers, except for the rookie minicamp. I’m getting back into football shape. We’ll get it together. Overall, it was a pretty good day.”

The day did include his first opportunity to cover Cowboys’ receivers Miles Austin and Dez Bryant. He met with mix results.

“They got a couple of completions. But that’s football,” Claiborne said. “I expected them to come at me and they did. You’ve got to learn from the mistakes that you made and go back and fix it the next time.”

On one crossing route, Bryant reached back and plucked a Tony Romo pass thrown behind him. Had he seen much of that in college?

“No, not at all,” Claiborne said. “Those guys have got good chemistry with each other. And (Romo) knows where to put the ball when Dez is running.”
