Day 3 highlights

At the Aquatics Centre: Ryan Lochte, the reigning world champion in the 200m freestyle, will get a chance today for another gold against what is considered a tough international field. Teenager Missy Franklin goes for her first individual medal in the 100m backstroke. Texas A&M's Breeja Larson, a surprise qualifier for London, tries to earn a medal in the 100m breaststroke.

At North Greenwich Arena: The U.S. men's gymnastics team, led by newcomers Danell Leyva and John Orozco, qualified in first place and will compete for the gold in team competition. The men are trying to win their third consecutive medal -- and second Olympic gold -- in the team event. They won gold in the boycotted 1984 Los Angeles Games.

At the Basketball Arena: The U.S. women continue their quest for a fifth consecutive gold medal vs. Angola. Duncanville's Tamika Catchings and former UConn stars Maya Moore, Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird lead the heavily favored U.S. team.

At the All England Club: Rain wrecked play at Wimbledon on Sunday -- except for the matches under the roof on Centre Court. Three-time gold medalist Venus Williams, top seed Victoria Azarenka and Andy Roddick are scheduled to play today. In doubles, both gold medal teams from 2008 -- the Williams sisters and Switzerland's Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka -- are set to play their first-round matches.
