American Eagle has reached a tentative agreement with its flight attendants union that includes no pay freezes or reductions.
The Association of Flight Attendants, which represents 1,800 crew members at the regional carrier, said its union leaders need to approve the agreement before the contract goes out to members for a ratification vote."This is certainly not the agreement we were negotiating prior to the bankruptcy, nor does it accurately reflect the vast contributions American Eagle flight attendants make to our carrier each day," said Robert Barrow, AFA American Eagle president. "However, this agreement blunts management's most onerous demands, gives us the opportunity to decide for ourselves how to move forward, and provides a foundation for the future."Additional details on the contract were not released by the union Friday.The agreement comes before American Eagle's parent company, AMR Corp., files Section 1113 motions in bankruptcy court to reject its regional carrier's labor contracts, as it has with the mainline carrier.American spokesman Bruce Hicks said the company is pleased it was able to reach a tentative agreement "that will help Eagle effectively compete for American's business."Andrea Ahles, 817-390-7631Twitter: @Sky_TalkHave more to add?
