Couple arrested after car chase from Haltom City to Azle

AZLE — A man and woman were arrested Wednesday night after police pursued their vehicle from Haltom City to Azle, police said.

Officers are investigating whether the man had shot at an Azle police officer Tuesday, said Cpl. Joe Hackfeld, a Haltom City police spokesman.

The chase started after officers spotted the 2001 Jeep Cherokee, which matched a description of one seen at Tuesday's shooting, Hackfeld said.

An online report said the chase reached speeds over 100 mph, ended in a wreck near Willow Wood Drive and involved at least one other vehicle.
