Girl, 5, drowns at Eagle Mountain Lake
FORT WORTH _ A 5-year-old girl apparently drowned Wednesday at Shady Grove Park at Eagle Mountain Lake, officials said.
She was identified as Piper Sasnett of Paradise, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's website on Thursday.
A ruling on her death is pending an autopsy, officials said.
The girl was with a group in the designated swimming area at the park about 6 p.m. when she went under, said Chad Lorance, spokesman for the Tarrant Regional Water District.
She was pulled out of the water, but was unresponsive when paramedics arrived.
She was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, Lorance said in a news release
The district, which cares for the lake, is investigating the death. Lorance said.
