Fort Worth father accused of killing 2-week-old son
FORT WORTH -- The father of an infant who died from a blow to his head was in custody Thursday accused in the slaying of his baby, police said.
Police arrested Agustin A. Hernandez, 23, of Fort Worth on Wednesday. He was in the Mansfield Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The 23-year-old father is expected to be charged with murder, according to jail records.
Police did not release any other details.
Hernandez called 911 about 12:30 a.m. on July 6 to report that his son was not breathing, police said.
Giovanni Hernandez, just over 2 weeks old, was taken from his apartment in the 400 block of Heights Lane to Cook Children's Medical Center, where he died later that night.
The Tarrant County medical examiner's office reported that Giovanni died from blows to his head. His death was ruled a homicide.
