FORT WORTH -- A 34-year-old Fort Worth father is behind bars on accusations that he recklessly caused the May 30 shooting death of his 9-year-old daughter.

Thomas Brock Wilson was arrested Tuesday on a manslaughter warrant, jail records show.

He was being held Wednesday in the Mansfield Jail, with bail set at $100,000.

Police have said that Wilson was removing his gun from a bag when the weapon went off, striking Anaya Wilson in the chest at their home in the 13000 block of Cherokee Ranch Road in far north Fort Worth.

The girl was taken to Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine, where she died.

Officer Clifton Miller, a Fort Worth police spokesman, said Wednesday that investigators obtained the warrant "due to the father's account not matching up with some of the physical evidence of this case."

Under the Texas penal code, a person can be charged with manslaughter, a second-degree felony, if he recklessly causes a death. A conviction could lead to up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Wilson had referred to the loss of his daughter on his Facebook page: "Due to a ignorant accident my beautiful daughter Anaya is with our Lord. I can't even put into words how devastated I am and really cannot imagine what my wife is going through. I love her and our 3 Boys more than life itself."
