The Cowboys were in Houston on Tuesday scouting former Baylor wide receiver Josh Gordon, who worked out in advance of Thursday's supplemental draft.

The team that makes the highest bid for Gordon will lose its pick in the corresponding round in 2013.

Gordon didn't play last season after being arrested on allegations of marijuana possession. He caught 42 passes for 714 yards and seven touchdowns in 2010. He transferred to Utah but never played, leaving for financial reasons.

The Cowboys, one of 21 teams at the workout, used a seventh-round supplemental pick on nose tackle Josh Brent in 2010. They could use a third receiver. The competition for Laurent Robinson's vacated spot stands to include Danny Coale, Dwayne Harris, Andre Holmes, Kevin Ogletree and Raymond Radway.

Former TCU running back Ed Wesley also has a chance to be drafted. Wesley worked out at TCU for 12 teams earlier this week.

Briefly

Saints: Quarterback Drew Brees has no plans to report to training camp if he does not get a long-term deal, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN. Monday is the deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign long-term extensions.

Packers: Driven in large part by a 13-0 start to a season as defending Super Bowl champions, Green Bay had $42.7 million in net income in 2011-12, an increase of 150 percent over the previous year.
