FORT WORTH -- Two firefighters were treated and released from a local hospital Thursday evening after battling a two-alarm apartment fire in east Fort Worth, officials said Friday.
Two other people were injured in the blaze, which displaced 12 families at the La Plaza apartments, 346 Shady Lane Drive, according to the Red Cross. One suffered smoke inhalation and the other fell while walking, said Lt. Tim Hardeman of the Fort Worth Fire Department.The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, he said.Damages were estimated at $700,000, but the cause of the fire remains undetermined, Hardeman said.Hardeman said the entire roof of the two-story building was destroyed.
