Williams stays with Nets

As expected, Deron Williams has decided to stay with the Brooklyn Nets and sign a five-year, $100 million contract with that franchise when the NBA's moratorium ends on July 11.

Williams made his announcement via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon. His tweet said: "Made a very tough decision today.''

Williams had paired his list of suitors down to between the Dallas Mavericks and Nets. And it appears the moves the Nets made over the past two days tipped the scales in Brooklyn's favor.

While the Mavs sat idly on the sidelines, the Nets re-signed forward Gerald Wallace and traded for six-time All-Star Joe Johnson. Apparently that was more than enough to convince Williams -- a native of The Colony -- that he should remain with the Nets.
