FORT WORTH -- A resident who found the body of a Trinity High School student near the back door of his home last week has stopped talking to investigators, police said Sunday.
The man, whom police have not identified, called 911 Thursday evening and reported finding the body of Claudia Hidic of Fort Worth and he told police that he did not know her.But after an initial conversation with investigators, he stopped communicating with them, Fort Worth police officer Sharron Neal said. The man, however, was not a "person of interest" or a suspect, Neal said Sunday. In the meantime, investigators continued to sift through numerous pieces of evidence collected over two days from the man's home in the 3000 block of Overton Park Drive West in the Tanglewood neighborhood."We're still interviewing witnesses, family and friends," Neal said Sunday. The Tarrant County medical examiner's office said Hidic died from a gunshot wound to the head and ruled her death a homicide.Hidic had just completed her junior year at Trinity High School in Euless, her older sister, Samira Hidic, told the Star-Telegram on Friday.Claudia Hidic, 17, was about eight miles from her home in south Fort Worth. The man of the house on Overton Park Drive West called 911 at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday. The body was facedown near the back door, which appeared to have been kicked in, police said. The house is at the corner of Overton Park West and Glenwood Drive, across from Tanglewood Elementary School.A neighbor, who declined to give his name, said the death surprised him in part because there "was a constant flow of people in and out" of the area behind the residences Thursday.Workers repairing an air-conditioning unit came and went from the driveway all morning and into the afternoon, he said. This report contained information from Star-Telegram archives.Domingo Ramirez Jr., 817-390-7763Twitter: @mingoramirezjr.Have more to add?
