FORT WORTH -- A 17-year-old Euless high school student was found fatally shot near the back door of a residence in the Tanglewood neighborhood Thursday evening, Fort Worth police said.
The Tarrant County medical examiner's office identified the teen as Claudia Hidic of Fort Worth and reported that she had been shot in the head.Hidic had just completed her junior year at Trinity High School in Euless, said her older sister, Samira Hidic."We don't really know what happened," Samira Hidic said. "She was just bighearted and beautiful. We're grieving."A resident of the house in the 3000 block of Overton Park Drive West found the body and called 911, police said. Officers responded about 6:15 p.m. The body was facedown near the back door, which appeared to have been kicked in, police said. The resident told officers that he did not know the teen. The house is at the corner of Overton Park West and Glenwood Drive, across from Tanglewood Elementary School. The house is divided into three residences that share a driveway.A neighbor, who declined to give his name, said the death surprised him in part because there "was a constant flow of people in and out" of the area behind the residences Thursday. Workers repairing an air-conditioning unit came and went from the driveway all morning and into the afternoon, he said. The neighbor described the man who lived in the home where the body was found as "a really good guy.""I have children, and it's very disconcerting that this could happen so close by," he said.Alex Branch, 817-390-7689Twitter: @albranch1
