Two new human cases of West Nile Virus were confirmed this week, bringing the total number in Tarrant County to three.

For medical privacy reasons, Tarrant County Public Health officials did not identify the cities of residence for those infected with the virus.

Five mosquito pools have tested positive for the virus since June 5, according to county health officials. Two pools in Hurst and one pool each in Euless, Richland Hills and Bedford indicated the presence of the virus in mosquitoes.

Three human cases of West Nile Virus have also been confirmed this year in Denton County. None of those patients died, according to Juan Rodriguez, chief epidemiologist with the Denton County health department.

There also have been no reported deaths statewide from the virus, according to state health officials.
