A Fort Worth man who vowed not to be taken alive by police was convicted Monday and sentenced to life in prison without parole in a 2010 double slaying.

Rashad Elay Glenn, 20, whose trial was disrupted last week after a courtroom bystander attempted to leap a divider to get to Glenn, was convicted Monday by a jury in state District Judge Scott Wisch's court.

Prosecutors Sheila Wynn and Rhett Parham presented evidence that Glenn was the gunman who shot Charles E. Govan, 21, and Richard L. Hawkins, 20, on Aug. 21, 2010.

Police have said the men were in a vehicle stopped in the 4400 block of Emerson Street in Fort Worth when another car pulled up and a man got out and started shooting.

Glenn, who was 18 at the time of the shooting, was later arrested without incident on a warrant. Police at the time warned the public that Glenn had "stated that he would not be taken alive."

Defense attorney Steve Gordon, who had persuaded Wisch to issue a gag order while the case was ongoing, could not be reached for comment.

The man who disrupted the courtroom, Antwane Henderson, 29, was sentenced to 180 days in the Tarrant County Jail for contempt of court. It is not known if Henderson was related to the two victims.

Wisch had instructed jurors to disregard the outburst, but had asked them to notify him if they believed they could not.

No jurors indicated to the judge that the incident would make it impossible for them to render a fair verdict, according to court records.
